Pakistan and UAE Reiterate Their Determination to Strengthen Economic and Trade Relation

Pakistan and UAE have reiterated their commitment to expanding bilateral trade & economic ties.

The agreement was struck during a meeting last week in Abu Dhabi between Pm Shehbaz Sharif & Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

PM Shehbaz Sharif met with a dignitary from the UAE and conducted comprehensive deliberations on the opportunities for advancing cooperation as well as a variety of regional, bilateral, and international concerns.

The UAE crown prince greeted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly before their discussion at the royal palace, Qasr-e Al-Shatie.

During the discussion, the crown prince congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his appointment as Prime Minister of Pakistan and wished him luck in his new role. He also expressed his best wishes for Pakistan’s ongoing success and prosperity.

The PM paid respect to His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may Allah bless his soul), the UAE’s creator and first president, for his foresight and visionary leadership, as well as his role to establishing the groundwork for Pakistan-UAE relations. Under the aim of Sheikh Zayed, he emphasised Pakistan’s desire to deepen mutually beneficial partnerships.

PM Shehbaz Sharif thanked the UAE government and people on their first 50 years of rapid and amazing progress and wished them continued success in the coming decades.

He also congratulated the UAE leadership and the Expo Team on the successful staging of the Dubai World Expo 2020, which was universally regarded as a resounding success.

Furthermore, the prime minister thanked the UAE for its long-standing bilateral and regional assistance for Pakistan.

He specifically noted humanitarian programmes established in Pakistan under UAE-Pakistan Assistance Program, as well as critical help provided by the UAE during COVID-19 epidemic. He also commended the UAE for honourably and dignifiedly hosting 1.7 million Pakistanis who are not just a bridge among Pakistan & the UAE but also a source of pride for Pakistan.

Highlighting His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed great endeavour to eradicate polio worldwide, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the UAE’s crucial role in assisting global effort to eradicate this scourge.

Following a review of bilateral cooperation in many categories, the two leaders agreed to increase trade and economic connections, with a special emphasis on speeding collaboration and developing partnerships in areas such as investments, economic growth, energy, infrastructure, and farming.

The crown prince told Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that appropriate steps will be taken to establish deeper bilateral brotherly relations for the benefit of coming generations in both nations. He expressed thanks for the beneficial role Pakistanis played in the creation of the UAE at a time when others had a limited presence and participation.

Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan stated that Pakistan and the UAE stood by each other in good and difficult times and will continue to do so in the future. He emphasised the necessity of building relations between the two brother countries for the sake of their people’s well-being.

The two presidents also addressed local and international challenges. They agreed to keep in touch on all areas of mutual concern and to coordinate views at multilateral organisations such as the UN & the OIC.
